Venue Spotlight - Soka University

Finding the perfect venue can be difficult, especially once you get over 200 guests. However this weeks featured venue; Soka University is beautifully accommodating even the largest of events.

In addition to a breathtaking backdrop, Soka University boasts several different areas on property that accommodate receptions, meetings, and conferences with guest counts as intimate as 25 and as large as 2,300. The location will wow your guests with it's amazing grounds, outstanding architecture, and of course a water feature or two. We're not only swooning over Soka University as an amazing event venue, but were kind of upset our colleges weren't this pretty! And if there were ever a place to re-live our college days this would be it. Except a much more romantic European style collegiate lifestyle with Yates, espressos, and cable knit sweaters! But I digress. I'll settle for a gala or two here instead.
Just take a gander at these photos and you'll understand...

Santiago Canyon Wedding

It's another fabulous Wedding Wednesday today! This week we have this adorable wedding from D Park Photography. The bride chose such a wonderful color palette that just feels like spring! There's so many great details about this wedding, like chairs from fenway park, and a cotton candy cart for guests to indulge in during the reception. This wedding is not only beautiful, but it also looks like everyone had so much fun! Enjoy these great photos...

Food Trends

Food. It's everyone's favorite topic isn't it? Well it's ours. And since you're reading our blog we'll assume you're pretty keen on food too.
So we thought it would be lovely to do little post on some of our current food obsessions coming to a party near you...

First up is this visually stunning appetizer of beet atop Greek yogurt, it's a simple appetizer but the addition of fresh mint makes the flavors more complex and absolutely delicious!

Next on our list is an absolute favorite of ours, White Gazpacho. Gazpacho is traditionally a tomato based cold soup of spain. In this white edition the soup is made of a cucumber base. It's very creamy, surprisingly tangy, and refreshing! On top of that it can be served as a soup course or in shot glasses during cocktail hour.

2013 will definitely mark the comeback of deviled eggs in the food world, and we couldn't be happier about it! We've been crafting up a few different kinds in our kitchen, our top creations include a jalapeno bacon deviled egg (pictured below), a pesto deviled egg(pictured lower), and the refined classic deviled egg; which is the traditional deviled egg topped with Crème fraîche and caviar.

My personal favorite is our new Ahi Street Taco. It's basically heaven in a crispy wonton shell. That is NOT in any way an over exaggeration.

However....

Our chef would probably describe it more along the lines of it being seared ahi topped with a mango jicama slaw, and a teriyaki drizzle.

Last but not least we have our English sweet pea crostini (which is definitely Colette's favorite).
Fresh pureed English sweet-peas on a delicious toasty crostini topped with greek yogurt and feta. Perfect for spring and summer parties!
What foods are you looking forward to most this upcoming party season? Tell us in the comments below!

Setting The Table For St. Patrick's Day

Although St. Patrick's Day doesn't technically land in spring, it's our first holiday where it feels like spring!
With shades of green as the focal point, using lot's of lush moss, natural greenery, and spring florals. It's time to set the table with a flair of the sprawling green hills of Ireland as your inspiration...

Beside the beer, bacon and cabbage aspect of St. Patty's, the holiday is a serious tradition in Ireland that includes going to church in the morning and then having a feast in observance in the afternoon. So set the table accordingly for a full meal with the family! And as most of us in America don't celebrate St. Patrick's day as a religious holiday, it's still an excellent reason to share a meal with loved ones. After all there's no bad reason for sharing a meal!
We put together a few of our favorite St. Patrick's day tablescapes for inspiration for your feasting table. There's many different styles all featuring the traditional color of the holiday. Let us know which one is your favorite, and be sure to share your tablescapes with us on our facebook page!
